Logo Unifies Branding for United Business Media Companies
PR Newswire today launched its new corporate logo symbolizing its achievements as an innovative global communications force and its new role as a major component of parent company United Business Media plc. The new logo is comprised of a stylized U above PR Newswire's name in red and United Business Media's name in blue. The U logo is comprised of independent entities that fit together in a unified community, representing United's business components.
"The new logo is a symbol that reflects the forward direction of PR Newswire," said Charles H. Morin, PR Newswire's chief executive officer. "It combines a sense of unity with our sister companies and projects a global outlook that so accurately portrays our goals."
Creation of the new logo is part of a major re-branding project by UBM (Nasdaq: UNEWY), which has transformed itself into a focused market information group over the past two years. UBM has divested itself of major consumer media businesses and low growth business-to-business assets valued at $4.8 billion to focus on high growth sectors and build its leading core businesses from already strong positions. In addition to PR Newswire, UBM also owns high-tech business media leader CMP Media and top 10 global market research group NOP World.
"PR Newswire and its sister companies represent the best in their fields. We are now positioned to not only develop these businesses further on a global basis, but also to expand the synergy among UBM companies," Morin added. "The new look helps to emphasize that effort."
UBM, formerly known as United News & Media, has owned PR Newswire for 17 years. Anticipating and responding to customers' needs, PR Newswire has diversified over the years into the leading provider of communications services to companies and organizations worldwide by adding Internet monitoring and online and broadcast multimedia capabilities to its core business of issuing news releases and photos to the media and investors. The company has begun to provide content to CMP Media web sites, notably TechWeb at http://www.TechWeb.com.
