World Road Association, (PIARC) joins the Intertraffic Asia 2002 Conference Programme

Bangkok--Nov 22--Intertraffice Asia The World Road Association, (PIARC) will organize a conference on the Management of Road Bridges in Asian countries as one of the Intertraffic Asia 2002 forum segments. INTERTRAFFIC ASIA 2002, Asia's International Exhibition and Conference on Design, Management, Maintenance and Construction of Traffic and Transport Infrastructure, will be held at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 12-14, 2002. The event is supported by Ministry of Transport and Communications, Thailand, Roads Association of Thailand, Department of Highways and International Road Federation (IRF). This conference programme is organized by World Road Association, (PIARC), in the Field of Management and Administration of the Road System, which is one of the strategic themes of PIARC. The Committee 11 - Road Bridges and Other Structures - has agreed to holed the seminar in conjunction with Intertraffic Asia 2002. "The main focus of the seminar will identify the needs from Asian countries in the field of management of bridge and other structures. Based on the respective situations in the individual countries, the conference will give sound advice on the principles, concepts and strategies of effective bridge management. Also, it provides a valuable opportunity for delegates to exchange knowledge and experience on the management of bridges and other structures. In addition, delegates will have the possibility to learn and discuss on the safety and functionality of bridges and other structures, from inspection and maintenance to strengthening and reconstruction. The Committee 13 - Road Safety - will also be held at the same time." A PIARC representative explained. Around 300 delegates from Southeast Asia as well PIARC members from all over the world are expected to attend the C 11 and C13 seminars. The Exhibition at Intertraffic Asia will be a showcase of trends, new technologies and innovations. The trade fair is the international platform of the industry; focus on the development of the transport and infrastructure sector. Delegates will greatly benefit from the exchange of knowledge, the networking opportunities and business in general at Intertraffic Asia 2002. INTERTRAFFIC ASIA 2002 will be held in the Kingdom of Thailand for the very first time.
