Bangkok--Jan 13--PR&Associates
DHL Thailand has set up a team dedicated to strengthening the export competitiveness of the local fashion industry and boosting the government's policy of making Bangkok the fashion hub of Asia by 2005.
Already keen supporters of the fashion industry through its Fashion First service, DHL's new export-focused team will provide fashion industry clients with a service dedicated to reducing time-delays in customs processing.
Thailand's fashion industry is one of the country's top three export earners. The annual export value of garments and textiles is over 300,000 million baht.
Mr. Sittichai Veerathummnoon, National Marketing Manager of DHL International (Thailand) Ltd., said, "DHL has always seen the importance of the fashion industry and has continually supported it. Importing and exporting fashion products requires expertise because we have to handle stringent and varied customs protocols in destination countries. We have the expertise our customers seek. As part of our proactive strategy in this sector, we have set up a special team that, along with our Fashion First service and DHL Worldwide network, will cater to our customers' needs, giving them a competitive edge and helping them open up new markets abroad."
DHL is the only air express and logistics provider to offer a service for the fashion industry. Fashion First enables DHL customers to control the expense and flow of their time-sensitive shipments. Designed for fashion exporters, Fashion First provides two protective flaps with three durable pouches for important documents like visas, airway bills and packing lists that help solve documentation and customs processing problems.
Said Mr. Sittichai, "With our tailor-made Fashion First service and long experience in the import / export industry, we can help fashion businesses speed up their time-to-market, better coordinate their production bases and take advantage of more business opportunities on the global stage."
Mr. Sittichai also said DHL will continue its efforts to educate the fashion market on import and export customs regulations and prepare manufacturers for the global free-trade era. DHL will also arrange and co-host trade exhibitions to promote the country's fashion industry.
DHL will join Bangkok International Fashion Fair (BIFF) 2003, organized by the Department of Export Promotion from January 15 to 19 at BITEC. At BIFF, DHL will operate a DHL Express Center to accommodate the logistics needs of participating exporters and importers.
