Thai Cane Paper Public Company Limited (TCP) has submitted its earnings report for the third quarter to the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The company reported a third quarter profit of 35.39 million Baht versus a loss of 15.3 million Baht in the same quarter last year. For the nine months to September 30 2002 the company recorded total profits of 95.24 million Baht versus a loss of 28.99 million for the same period in 2001.
"The improvement in earnings came from a number of areas," said Thai Cane Paper's Vice Chairman and Executive Director Mr. Virapan Pulges "The main contribution to the earnings growth were:
1. an increase in sales from 1,947.17 million Baht in the nine months of last year to 2,466.99 million Baht in the nine months of this year.
2. efficiency in management of raw materials, production and cost of sales decrease from 83.40 percent of sales revenue in the nine months of last year to 82.66 of sales revenue in the nine months of this year.
3. a decrease in selling and administrative expenses management to 35.65 percent
"Our aim is to continue to grow our profitability. "said Mr. Virapan. " We have invested a lot of time in turning around the fortunes of TCP and we are only starting to see the companies potential. We are planning to introduce more advanced management and customer relationship systems that will help us at the operational level as well as improve our service to our customers."
He also said:" That the outlook for the Kraft paper industry in Thailand is healthy. TCP will grow not only from a continued control of costs but through increased demand from customers. Our customers are the key to our growth and we are now clearly showing them we are up to the challenge. Once our planned capital raising is complete our financial strength will also help us grow the business."
Employing more than 450 people, Thai Cane Paper is a leading manufacturer and exporter of Kraft paper. The company has two manufacturing facilities in Kanchanaburi and Prachinburi provinces with a combined annual production capacity of 300,000 tons. The Prachinburi factory has the most advanced technology in the world and is the only facility in Thailand able to produce 4-ply kraft paper.
