Pianist BENNETT LERNER will perform MUSIC BY MY FRIENDS

AMA Studio?s Drawing Room Concert On Tuesday, September 30, at 8 PM, pianist BENNETT LERNER will perform MUSIC BY MY FRIENDS, a program of contemporary piano music, in AMA Studio's new "Drawing Room" on Soi Thonglor. Mr. Lerner will perform works by composers he knows, or has known, personally, from Aaron Copland (American's most famous composer) to young Thai composer Narong Prangcharoen. Many of these works were written especially for Mr. Lerner. Among the other composers whose works he will perform are Christopher Berg, Chester Biscardi, Robert Helps, Donald Richie (world-famous authority on Japanese film), Tison Street, and Roger Zahab. Mr. Lerner studied with Claudio Arrau, Rafael de Silva, German Diez, Robert Helps, and Arminda Canteros. He holds B. Mus. and M. Mus. degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and a D. M. A. from the City University of New York. Mr. Lerner has performed with the New York Philharmonic and other major orchestras, and has four cds of twentieth-century music on theEtcetera label. He has lived in Thailand for the past 13 years and is currently Professor of Piano in the Music Department of Payap University, Chiang Mai.
