Abbott Laboratories Limited and its 10-20-30 Healthy Body Program introduced this year will be continued in 2004. The 'emotional touch' campaign was launched as a pilot activity at the end of last year. "10-20-30 Power of Love" is a weight loss campaign where one partner of a couple encourages his/her significant other to lose weight for mutual healthier living.
Ms. Amporn Charoensomsak, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager of Abbott Laboratories, said "The 10-20-30 Power of Love activity has had a positive impact on the use of Abbott's anti-obesity drug, an important part of its 10-20-30 Healthy Body Program. The program has contributed to the growth in Abbott's share of the anti obesity drug market, up to 70% in 2003. The anti-obesity drug market is expected to be at 450-500 million baht this year. We believe that increasingly overweight and obese people are looking to understand more about safe, effective, and permanent weight loss methods. This is, in part thanks to the "10-20-30 Healthy Body Program."
"Emotional touch style campaigns will be a core marketing technique this year. We intend to ensure consumers get the full value from the message of the 10-20-30 Healthy Body Program, and particularly to encourage their loved ones to lose weight for its health benefit.. The program together with the safe use of an effective anti-obesity drug generally leads to permanent weight loss. Over 5,000 Abbott scientists in 130 countries with a research budget of more than $1 billion per year have been working to find new advances in health care, including developing the best ways to lose weight for healthier living. We understand the needs and nature of people who are losing weight, and are working wholeheartedly to help them." Ms. Amporn added.
Abbott will continue to work to create a better understanding of safe and effective weight loss methods, as well as educate consumers how to distinguish the new groups of anti-obesity drugs from old, unsafe ones. Abbott will also continue its " Reduce Weight, Reduce Risk Contest" for the second year.
