Leading Global Employment Services Provider Receives Computerworld Honors Program Laureate Award
for Use of CA Clarity
CA (NYSE: CA) announced today that Manpower, one of the world’s largest employment services providers, has received this year’s Laureate in the “Business and Related Services” category from IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program. Manpower was recognized for a visionary IT governance model that leverages CA’s industry-leading CA Clarity IT Governance solution to strategically align IT with business goals.
CA Clarity enables IT organizations to achieve world-class performance by enhancing the quality of their engagement with the business, optimizing the total value they deliver, and improving their operational efficiency.
“We are honored that some of the world’s leading businesspeople, technologists and scholars have singled out Manpower as a top innovator in the management of technology,” said Dan Greer, Manpower’s director of IS finance and governance. “By providing deep insight into and full control over every aspect of our IT operations, CA Clarity played a key role in our efforts to revolutionize the way we deliver IT and meet the needs of our business.”
Two years ago, Manpower decided to centralize IT operations and standardize IT processes across the 72 countries in which it operates, under an initiative it called “The Manpower Way.” Its goal was to define a common set of IT management processes, methods and tools on a global basis, while retaining the agility of local IT units.
CA Clarity was instrumental in helping Manpower establish a structured, flexible IT governance process that resulted in streamlined communications, improved efficiency and reduced costs. Thanks to CA Clarity, Manpower is on track to reduce the number of major applications and systems by 50 percent by the end of 2007. Manpower estimates this will result in a minimum savings of 10 percent on IT operational expenditures, which it can reinvest into more strategic initiatives.
“Our approach of governing globally and managing locally is based on our business philosophy of leveraging global efficiencies while encouraging local entrepreneurship and innovation” said Rick Davidson, Global CIO of Manpower. “CA Clarity is superbly aligned with the ‘Manpower Way,’ providing our IT leaders with the tools they need to manage resources and projects on both a local and global basis.”
CA Clarity provides a single, integrated system-of-record through which Manpower can prioritize, manage and monitor all IT investments and resources throughout the organization. In addition to giving Manpower’s IT and business leaders the information they need to make smart governance decisions, CA Clarity provides IT managers at regional offices and business units the necessary tools to manage projects and programs more efficiently and cost-effectively, based on their individual needs and requirements.
“We are delighted to have Manpower recognized by Computerworld for its outstanding achievement and visionary applications of technology to the business,” said Carl Landers, vice president of marketing for CA’s Clarity product line. “This recognition highlights our success at providing customers with the tools and practical expertise they need to maximize the business value generated by their IT investments.”
“The Computerworld Honors Program recognizes organizations that have demonstrated outstanding and visionary applications of technology,” said Bob Carrigan, president of IDG Communications and the chairman of the Chairmen's Committee of the Honors Program. “The organizations represented in this year’s collection have proven themselves to be leaders in their fields through creative thinking, fresh ideas and long-range vision.”
Manpower will join other 2006 Laureate recipients at the 18th Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards Evening taking place on June 5, 2006 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. During the ceremony, the judges will also select 50 finalists, five in each of the 10 categories: Business and Related Services; Education and Academia; Environment, Energy and Agriculture; Finance,
Insurance and Real Estate; Government and Non-Profit Organizations; Manufacturing; Media, Arts and Entertainment; Medicine; Science; and Transportation.
