Gourmet Asia 2007, Bangkok is being jointly organized by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Koelnmesse Pte. Ltd., Expolink Global Network and Peter Knipp Holdings Pte Ltd. (Singapore) for the first time in Thailand with over 68 million baht budget during 22-26 May 2007. There will be master chefs from around the world; Mr. Rene Dittrich who won two years of National Competition of Taittinger, Mr. Santi Santamaria, First Spanish master chef, to participate and create fantastic menu, fusion food and plate decoration for our guests. The best wines such as Chateau Angelus, Chateau de Beaucastel and Leeuwin Estate are selected to serve all Thai and foreign participants in fantastic atmosphere of the 5 star hotels. The inbound cash flow during the event of 5 days is estimated for one billion baht.

Mr. Kajit Habanananda, Director-General of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) disclosed that TCEB, Koelnmesse Pte. Ltd., Expolink Global Network and Peter Knipp Holdings Pte Ltd. (Singapore) are the organizers of “Gourmet Asia 2007, Bangkok” for the first time in Thailand during 22-26 May 2007.

Michelin Star master chefs has been invited to join this five day event to attract at least 4,800 foreign visitors and businessmen to participate “Gourmet Asia 2007, Bangkok” which will create at least 960 million baht cash flow in the country and make Thailand “the world hub of food and gourmet”

Mr. Michael Dreyer, Managing Director of Koelnmesse Pte. Ltd said that the company is the leader in organizing the world biggest food fair “Anuga” in Cologne, Germany and is the organizer of Thai Fex World of Food Asia, the greatest cuisine exhibition in Asia, which will be held in Thailand for the first time. The company has seen potential of Thailand as a complete food center. It has more than 80 networks around the world which can draw oversea guests to join this great event in Thailand which is expected to become the top country of Asian region in food and gourmet activities within the next three years.

Mr. Phusit Sasitaranondha, Managing Director of Expolink Global Network Ltd., the experienced organizer in national and international cuisine exhibitions and Thai Fex World Food Asia, added that “Gourmet Asia 2007, Bangkok” will have many Michelin star master chefs who have won many awards and cooked for the Royal Families and famous people, to come and demonstrate their great dishes for our guests for the first time in Thailand. Besides, you shall meet with the international wine producers who will introduce their finest wines which you can taste them with fabulous dishes in such auspicious event.

The co-organizers have prepared the place for “Gourmet Asia 2007, Bangkok” with four of five star hotels in Thailand namely Oriental Hotel, Conrad Hotel, Dusit Thani Hotel and Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel. Gourmet Asia 2007, Bangkok will be held in conjunction with Thaifex – World of Food Asia at Impact Exhibition Centre. The fair is a leading trade platform for the food and beverage industry in Asia.

Mr. Peter Knipp, Managing Director of Peter Knipp Holdings Pte Ltd. (Singapore) said that four international award-winning master chefs with excellent reputations and experiences in leading hotels have accepted to participate in this occasion.

The First master chef is Rene Dittrich, from Johri’s Talvo and St. Moritz-Champfer restaurants in Switzerland, Central European cuisine expertise, with Michelin Star level 2.

Santi Santamaria is the first master chef of Catanonia who won three Michelin Stars from Michelin guide seven years ago. He also got another 3 Michelin Stars and 4 Red Fork for Can Fabes, the highest prestigious award in Spain in 2005. Giagomo Gollina is the master chef at Dolce & Gabbana Gold Restaurant in Italy. He is also a chef consultant and food designer for Bonduelle Italy, Air Chef Italy and QB Catering Italy. Besides, he works for famous restaurants in South Africa, Paris and New York.

Master chef Sam Long is the director of Cuisine Department of the well known restaurant group “Tong Lock”. He used to cook for Mr. Bill Clinton, Former President of US and Koh Chok Tong, Former Prime Minister of Singapore. He won food decoration awards in Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence for Asia Ethnic of the Year 2001, 2002 and 2004. He also received “Chef of the Year” award in 2005.

In this event, Chateau Angelus and Chateau de Beaucastel from France, Leeuwin Estate from Australia and Pio Cesare from Italy will be presented for the guests. The wine makers shall bring their finest wines since 1966 until 1980 and share experiences of how to make wines and how to create the brands.

Mr. Peter Knipp further explained that the event shall be organized in those four hosting hotels. The opening ceremony shall be held in Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in the evening of 22 May 2007. Cooking demonstration by Master chef Sam Long shall be presented in the morning. In the afternoon, Chef Giagomo Gollina shall be cooking at Thai Flex, Jupiter 8 Room, Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. The dinner by Master chef Santi Santamaria will be served in Catalan style dishes with Chateau Angelus wine at Oriental Hotel.

On 24 May 2007, Master chef Santi Santamaria and Rene Dittrich shall demonstrate their cooking at Thai Flex, Jupiter 8 Room, Impact Arena in the morning and in the afternoon respectively. The dinner of the day shall be cooked by Master chef Sam Long at Conrad Hotel in modern Chinese dishes and served with Leeuwin Estate wine.

In the morning of 25 May 2007, cooking demonstration will be presented at Thai Fex, while dinner of Milanese Evening style dish made by Master chef Giagomo Gollina will be served with Pio Cesare wine at Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel. A Palette of Modern European dish by Master Rene Dittrich shall be served with Chateau de Beaucastel at Disit Thani at the same time on the same day.
