United Airlines will be a major participant at the 22nd U.S. Higher Education Fair 2007, which takes place Saturday, October 6 at the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm in Bangkok At the fair, 76 American universities and colleges will show what they can offer Thai students who are interested in studying in the United States. Up to 3,000 students and their parents are expected to attend.
America has the world's largest tertiary education system. The quality of the education at American universities and colleges is often acclaimed as the best in the world. Academic excellence, choice, value and flexibility are key characteristics. Over half a million international students are currently enrolled in U.S. universities and colleges.
Getting to your university in America is easy. United offers convenient daily service to over 200 cities and towns across America. United's general manager for Thailand, Mr Eric Wilson, encourages more Thai students to study in the USA. "When students are choosing a university to attend, we can show them how easy it is to get to their school from Bangkok using United," he said.
United has a long history of supporting education-related causes. That commitment is reflected in United's support of the prestigious Fulbright scholarship program, administered by the United States Education Foundation (www.fulbrightthai.org). United has been helping Thailand's Fulbright scholars for 21 years. Each year, United provides complimentary air transportation to the university of their choice for each of the program's "open competition" grantees.
Ms Kullawee Pongpattanajit, a 2006 Fulbright grantee from the open competition program, said: "We would not be able to get to the land where our dreams begin without United Airlines."
For this year's U.S. Higher Education Fair, United will be offering students a way to bring even more of their belongings with them when they go off to school. Students who attend the fair and visit the United booth will receive a voucher redeemable for a complimentary extra piece of luggage when they purchase a United ticket. In total, this will allow students to check up to 69 kilograms of baggage. Voucher quantities are limited, so students and their parents are advised to visit the booth early.
