At the Bangkok leg of the STAR Sports Speedzone Presented by ING regional road show held at Siam Discovery over the weekend, Mr Kanokphan Wathanakit-Anan from Chiangmai clocked the fastest time of 4 min 49 sec to be the leading contender for the grand prize in the
ING-Renault F1 simulator challenge.
Organized by ESPN STAR Sports and ING, the STAR Sports Speedzone Presented by ING simulator challenge was undoubtedly the event highlight, as the fastest driver of the entire series will be awarded the grand prize of a trip to an ING-Renault F1 Feel It Day in May 2009, where he/she will drive an F1 car.
STAR Sports Speedzone Presented by ING is a regional 4-city roadshow series aimed at celebrating the spirit of Formula One racing amongst F1 fans. Before Bangkok, the roadshow was held in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore and will move to its last stop in New Delhi later.
Mr Wathanakit-Anan, who flew down from Chiangmai specially for the event, said, “I’m delighted to have clocked the fastest time and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to drive the real F1 car as I’m the number one fan of Formula One. I’ve done my best; now I only need to see the record of the fastest-time winner in New Delhi.”
The winner was announced at the closing of the road show at the Siam Discovery Grand Hall following the live screening of both the qualifying day and race day of the Japan GP.
