With over 3,800 cars ordered to date, the world leading BOMBARDIER MOVIA is the metro vehicle of choice for operators in cities such as London, Shanghai, Singapore, Delhi
Bombardier Transportation will participate in this year’s edition of the Asia Pacific Rail conference, starting today in Bangkok where it will showcase its very popular BOMBARDIER MOVIA metro car as one of the best solution to successfully support the extensions of the Purple and Blue lines projects in the city.
The MOVIA metro is one of the best answer to Bangkok’s rail expansion plans as it integrates the world’s most advanced technologies in metro vehicle manufacturing, such as the reliable BOMBARDIER MITRAC propulsion and control system featuring IP technology.
Most importantly, the MOVIA metros are developed from a modular platform, thereby offering an expansive range of dimensions that can be customized to specific operator requirements while still ensuring a high degree of reliability, safety, maintainability and low life-cycle cost. Keeping in mind the ecological concerns of mass transit systems, the MOVIA vehicles are also environmentally friendly, featuring low energy consumption, optimized noise performance and up to 90% recyclability.
Today Bombardier produces the complete MOVIA metro vehicle in Asia through its manufacturing sites in China and India, supported by its engineering centres in Thailand and India, which together have all the necessary competencies to deliver a complete world-class metro vehicle. Bombardier is currently celebrating the delivery of its 1500th MOVIA car in China and its 100th MOVIA vehicle to India, out of which close to 1000 were already fully manufactured in Asia.
The success of the MOVIA car is acknowledged by the majority of operators around the world. This is evident with more than 3,800 MOVIA metro cars ordered from the company to date. Bombardier’s expertise is proven as the world’s largest supplier of metro cars transporting over 7 billion people every year using its metro cars in cities like New York, Montreal, Toronto, Paris, London, Berlin, Bucharest, Stockholm, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, New Delhi and many others.
Kristian Mikkelsen, President, Bombardier Transportation Passengers Asia, declared: “We are very optimistic about our success in Thailand, following the trend of other countries such as Singapore, India and China that have already selected our MOVIA cars as one of the best solution for their mobility challenges”.
Commenting on Bombardier’s presence in the country Mr. Mikkelsen added, “Bombardier already holds a large engineering centre in Thailand, and we are now looking to further expand this presence with the delivery of great vehicle solutions to Bangkok.”
Besides working towards developing national projects, Bombardier’s Rail Control Solutions engineering centre in Thailand, with a workforce of over 250 highly-skilled signalling engineers, works for international projects and is currently involved in the development of highly advanced solutions for over 20 Bombardier projects around the world, such as Barcelona and Bilbao metros in Spain, Stockholm light rail tram in Sweden, Tianjin metro in China, Puansan metro in Korea, Manila metro L3 in the Philippines and commuter rail service in Sใo Paulo, Brazil, amongst many others.
