Bangkok Bank scoops Best Trade Finance Bank and Best SME Bank; KASIKORNBANK takes Best Investment Bank and Best Bond House.

SCB wins resulted from its constant drive to lower costs for its stakeholders, treasury and cash management clients. Equally, its zero-tolerance policy towards technical glitches and position as a safe anchor for private wealth management clients and for borrowing and lending in Thailand have been lauded. In the first quarter of 2010, non-performing loans had dropped to 4.2% and fee income grew to 19.2% year-on-year due to strong growth in card business, fund management business and bancassurance.

A full write-up of the rationale behind these awards, from 2009 to 2010, will be published in the July/August issue of Alpha Southeast Asia magazine.

Methodology:

Banks and financial institutions operating in the five countries reflective of Alpha Southeast Asia's chief editorial focus - Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand - were evaluated by the editorial team on 180 key parameters including rankings in independent league tables and industry peer feedback, making it one of the most comprehensive banking and finance awards in the region.

Mr. Siddiq Bazarwala, Alpha Southeast Asia, Publisher commented, "The winners are not necessarily the biggest banks by asset size, in fact, 12 out of 14 of our awards are categorically open to locally incorporated banks and financial institutions with unrivalled commitment to servicing corporate, non-banking financial institutions clients and state-linked agencies."
