Tour de Thailand returns again for the 8th annual nation wide bike ride, going from Chiangmai to Phuket to raise money for Operation Smile Thailand and The Skills Development Centre for the Blind; the prime recipients of funds raised from the event.
The bike ride, from 7 December through 1 January 2011, will journey through the jungle-clad mountains of the north to the deep blue Andaman Sea of the south, as a total of 1,900 kilometers or 1,175 miles are covered across Thailand.
For those who cannot ride the entire journey, they are cordially invited to take part in the Ayutthaya – Pak Kret/Bangkok Ride, from 17 December through 18 December, 2010. The kickoff starts in Ayutthaya with a light & sound show followed by a dinner party. On the morning of 18 December the ride will start from Ayutthaya with blind cyclists riding with us on the back of tandem bicycles. The ride will finish at the Skills Development Centre for the Blind in Pak Kret, where riders will board a beautiful teak boat for a dinner cruise down the Chao Phraya to end at the Saphan Taksin Pier (Sky Train). The rider's bicycles will be transported from the Centre for the Blind to the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel (Sukhumvit Soi 22) and available for pick-up between 9am and 12noon on the 19th.
The registration for the Ayutthaya – Pak Kret/Bangkok Ride is 3,000 baht per person and each participant needs to raise a MINIMUM of 2,000 baht to be shared between Operation Smile Thailand and the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand. For more information please visit http://www.tourdethailand.com
