Sodexo Thailand STOP Hunger 2011: Solace in Bang Na Expressway Community

On the 15th of May, Sodexo Thailand’s STOP Hunger Servathon activities culminated in a grand food service for inhabitants of Bangna Choomchon (slum) which is home to 230 extended families; a total of over 1,000 people. In addition, staff handed out 260 care parcels amongst the shanty town, containing children’s toys, toiletries, dried foodstuffs and various useful household items. The previous 4 Fridays, staff from 3 Sodexo hospital sites – Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, Bangkok Medical Center and Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital as well as the Asian Institute of Technology had given educational talks on nutrition and hygiene then organised games and served lunch for children from the area. Word spread of the activity and whilst we were pleased that 70 children participated on the first Friday, by the last day over 130 turned up eager to join in the fun.
