Mentor International invites students who are interested to further their studies in Art and Design, Fashion, Communications, Graphics Design etc., for interview. At the interview session, you will have a chance to present your portfolio and demonstrate your ideas to a visiting university representative. The interview days will be held 9 – 11 February 2012, 10.00 - 17.00 at the Mentor office.
The University of the Arts London consists of 6 well known colleges:
Camberwell College of Arts
l Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design
l Chelsea College of Art and Design
l London College of Communication
l London College of Fashion
l Wimbledon College of Art
Currently, there are totally 19,000 students from all over the world atthe University, which offers are a wide range of courses from Foundation, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and PhD.
Some portfolio advice:
1. Your portfolio should demonstrate a range of skills appropriate to the subject area, containing examples of work completed within recent years, whether for a college project or personal work.
2. It is important that the work you include reflects your engagement in creative practice, critical thinking and technical abilities and also that you include evidence of background research (e.g. sketchbooks, preliminary work, written material).
3. Ideas, visual research and experimentation are more important than finished work and can be shown in the form of two-dimensional work, made objects, photographs or through recorded moving image/live events.
4. For the arrangement of your work, it is important to show the most recent work at the front, or arrange the latest to earlier work in your folder.
5. You should bring at least 15 – 20 pieces of your work for the interview.
6. The process of portfolio preparation for each course is relatively different. We would suggest you come to talk to a Mentor counsellor in advance.
