Listed firms of Thai alternative bourse show strong Q3 results - Q3 sales of firms on Thai alternative bourse up 35 pct y-o-y - Net profits up 8.39 pct y-o-y to THB 876 mln (USD 28.4 mln) in Q3 - Seven firms announce flood-related damage Companies listed on the Market for Alternative Investment (mai), under The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) group, reported a 35 percent increase in net profit to THB 15.25 billion (USD 495 million) in July-September quarter, and three firms announced interim dividend payments in this period. The 57 mai-listed companies, out of the total 70 firms, posted a 8.39 percent rise in net profits in the third quarter to THB 876 million. In the first nine months, their net earnings rose 38.88 percent to THB 2.71 billion and sales increased 33.13 percent to THB 42.62 billion, while their gross profit margins dropped slightly to 21.42 percent at the end of September, said mai President Chanitr Charnchainarong. "Three companies announced that they weren’t significantly affected by the current floods, while six are evaluating their effects. Seven firms have announced direct or indirect damage due to the flood. However, most companies have bought insurance to cover their asset damages," Chanitr said. Fourteen of the mai-listed companies reported rises in third-quarter net profit compared with the previous quarter and the same period of last year. These firms are Aira Factoring plc (AF), Asian Phytoceuticals plc (APCO), ARIP plc (ARIP), Energy Earth plc (EARTH), Goldfine Manufacturers plc (GFM), Interlink Communication plc (ILINK), Lighting & Equipment plc (L&E), Moong Pattana International plc (MOONG), Officemate plc (OFM), Pylon plc (PYLON), Qualitech plc (QLT), QTC Energy plc (QTC), Thai Nondestructive Testing plc (TNDT), and Thai Nakarin Hospital plc (TNH). However, the financial statement announcement excludes 12 mai-listed firms which have requested to delay their submissions due to the flooding. They account for about 12 percent of mai’s total market capitalization. As of November 17, the mai index closed at 261.30 points, with a total market capitalization of THB 73.14 billion (USD 2.37 billion).
