General Motors (GM) held its first GM Supplier Quality Excellence Awards 2012 in Bangkok recently, to strengthen ties and deepen collaboration with automotive suppliers from around Southeast Asia. Selected suppliers, including CEVA, were invited to the award ceremony where they met with GM’s regional executives, including President Martin Apfel, Vice President Aaron Jones, and Guy Lynch, Supplier Quality Director at GM International Operations, as well as Dr. Atchaka Sribunruang, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Thailand.
CEVA’s team in Thailand won the Quality System Basic award, which recognizes leading automotive suppliers in the region for their achievements in compliance with GM’s quality system. Our General
Manager for Operations in Thailand, Mr Santhiti Subhanusorn received the award on CEVA’s behalf with pride from Mr Aaron D Jones, Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, GM Thailand andSoutheast Asia.
This is the result of CEVA’s local tire and wheel assembly team’s excellent operations and high service level delivered to GM, reinforcing its expertise in automotive supply chain management which facilitates the delivery of GM's automobiles around the region.
Santhiti commented, “Quality is in its essence a way of managing the organization and this award proves that CEVA is striving to grow together with GM strongly and sustainably.”
CEVA has been working with GM in Thailand for more than three and a halfyears, providing them with various supply chain solutions and logistics services to support their business around Southeast Asia and globally.
CEVA’s servicesrange from tire and wheel assembly for over 620,000 units per year for both passenger cars and pick-up trucks, Lead Logistics Provider (LLP) services managing material delivery from around the world to GM’s factory for over 15,000 tons of Air shipments, over 27,000 container vessels and local milk run transport service totaling over 84,000 trips per year.
Mr. Aaron Jones, GM said that the Quality System Basic award winners did an outstanding job over the past year, supplying GM around the world, including the company’s manufacturing complex in Rayong, Thailand.
Award winners were selected for Quality Excellence and Quality System Basic certification after GM’s Quality teams analyzed the performance of over 1,983 suppliers from around the region for one year from July 2011 to July2012.
GM Southeast Asia Operations President Martin Apfel said that the awards highlight the key role that Southeast Asian manufacturers are playing in the company’s success and they intend to make this event an annual affair.
