More than 100 grade 12 students took their first step into the world of business at the International Trade Workshop organised by FedEx Express and Junior Achievement Thailand on June 28.
The students participated in the 2014 FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge—a multi-phased program designed to inspire Thai youths to pursue their business or career dreams.
Their entrepreneurial journey began with a workshop hosted by business experts, who shared their experience in trade, finance, marketing and other areas related to business. In addition, students were tasked to find solutions to real life business issues in team challenge events.
To extend their commercial education, the students will develop a new product and business plan in stage two of the program from June 29 to July 13. Eight teams will be selected to present their ideas to a panel of judges at the national International Trade Challenge in Bangkok on July 25.
The top three winning teams will represent Thailand to compete against students from eight other Asia Pacific markets—Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam—at the Regional Finals to be held in Hong Kong, August 17-21.
“As a company founded on innovation and entrepreneurship, and supporting businesses of all sizes, FedEx is proud to support the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge to help develop Thailand’s future business leaders,“ said David Carden, managing director, FedEx Express, Thailand and Indochina. “The program also gives more than 500 Thai students their first taste of the business world and a platform to showcase their talent, skills, and creativity to wider audiences."
Now in its sixth consecutive year, FedEx Express has sponsored the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge in Thailand and inspired more than 500 students.
