Cixi Taihou The Musical, The Dominance of The Soaring Phoenix

Press Releases »

H.R.H. Princess Soamsawali graciously starred in one of the most historical plays in Thailand “Cixi Taihou” from the legendary story written by M.R. Kukrit Pramoj

“Cixi Taihou The Musical” is a story about an ordinary woman who lived with her parents and sister in Hunan province. After her father passed away, she moved to Beijing with her mother and sister. She was later chosen to be an imperial concubine and served Xianfeng Emperor. They fell in love and promised that their love would remain forever. However, the words uttered by the Dragon were empty and meaningless. The Emperor appointed Lady Sakoda, Cixi’s relative, as the Empress. Cixi decided to leave her love behind and focused on getting what she desired – ruling over the Imperial Throne of the Dragon. Through hardship, problems and separation, she fought her way through storms until the last day of her life. She passed away at the age of 73. Her struggle will be recounted through lyrical conversation and malicious songs with extravagant light and sound effects.

H.R.H. Princess Soamsawali graciously honors the play by starring as Niuhulu, Cixi’s mother. She will sing three songs in the musical in all performances to raise fund for the Friends In Need (of “Pa”) Foundation, Thai Red Cross.
