Bridgestone’s Green Hands Conduct Rice Planting to Benefit Thai Society

          Thai Bridgestone Co., Ltd. conducted its Green Hands Special Rice Planting activity at Chumchon Wat Namai School in Pathumthani Province on 5th June 2014. The date was specifically chosen to coincide with United Nations Environment Program’s World Environmental Day, which aims to raise global awareness and positive action for the environment.
          The Green Hands Special Rice Planting activity was attended by 300 participants consisting of Bridgestone employees, Bridgestone scholarship students, villagers, teachers, local students and Sarakadee Fan Club members. The activity was led by Mr. Tomio Fukuzumi, Managing Director of Thai Bridgestone Co., Ltd., together with management staff from Thai Bridgestone and other local Bridgestone Group Companies.
          When the rice crop matures after 105 days, the harvested produce will be used to fund school equipment and provide income to Chumchon Wat Namai School and its students.
          “Apart from strengthening the bond between Bridgestone and its stakeholders, this activity raised the awareness of food security and reminded participants of the importance of Thai rice farmers as the backbone of this nation,” said Tomio Fukuzumi, Managing Director of Thai Bridgestone Co., Ltd., “Thai Bridgestone is determined to enhance social sustainability through various projects that contribute to Thai society, while achieving Bridgestone Group’s environmental mission, to ensure a healthy environment for all.”
