Supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office, this year’sPenguins Undercover Ice World with the DreamWorks Gang will see blocks of colourful ice carved into amazingly detailed DreamWorks Animation characters,spanning a 1,600-square-foot exhibition areaat The Venetian Macao’s Cotai ExpoHall F. Visitors can enjoy an undercover journey with the Penguins of Madagascar through the incredibly cool worlds of everyone’s favourite DreamWorks Animation franchises, all carved from ice.During the journey, visitors can witness ice renderings of Italian piazzas, bridges over canals, singing gondoliers; meet up with all-ice versions of the much-loved characters from “Shrek,” “Madagascar,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” and “Kung Fu Panda;” and even get to take a photograph with the Penguins of Madagascar.
The fun-filled ice sculpture exhibition is divided into six themed zones:
Zone 1: The Venetian Macao – Penguins of Madagascar Mission Begins
Zone 2: Family love – Celebrate a fairytale holiday with Shrek and the family
Zone 3: Friendship – Party with the pals from Madagascar
Zone 4: Community –Get togetherwith Vikings and Dragons
Zone 5: Tradition – Enter the Jade Palace with Kung Fu Panda and the Furious Five
Zone 6: The Venetian Macao – Farewell from the Penguins
Zone 1: The Venetian Macao – Penguins of Madagascar Mission Begins
The journey through different worlds begins with the Penguins of Madagascar, surrounded by the familiar sights and sounds of The Venetian Macao. The spirited Penguins are on board a gondola planning thejourney on a map. The room is full of elegant Italian architecture, stylish piazzas, period streetlamps, landmarks such as the Rialto-style bridge and, of course, The Venetian Macao’sfamous canals and gondolas, all lit by hanging Italian lights. Visitors will want to take lots of pictures of the exquisite themed walls and surroundings.
Zone 2: Family love – Celebrate a fairytale holiday with Shrek and the family
Next, guests find themselves on the outskirts of the fairy-tale land of Far Far Away to drop in on the loveable ogre Shrek and his extended fairy tale family. Here visitorscan climb on board Dragon’s back to look over Shrek’s swamp. Shrek, his wife Fiona and their three babies are joined by Donkey, Puss In Boots, the Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio and the Big Bad Wolf, who are very much part of the family as they all come together to celebrate the holiday season.
Zone 3: Friendship – Party with the pals from Madagascar
The Penguins return incognito to the tropical island of Madagascar to seethe Zoosters, celebrating their friendship along with King Julien and all the lemurs. Visitors can sit on top of the regal throne of King Julien for a picture or pose with the larger than life Zoosters– Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippo. Guestscan also get a great souvenir photo when jumping into the “New York or Bust” balloon.
Zone 4: Community –Get together with Vikings and Dragons
The Isle of Berk is a community like no other. Here dragons and Vikings live together in complete harmony. Plank walkways guide visitorsinto the village square where they’llbe surrounded by the Vikings and their dragon counterparts. Hiccup, the village hero, and his faithful dragon Toothless stand proudly at the centre and lead the wayto a welcome celebration intheir thriving community. They are joined by their Viking pals, including Astrid and her dragon Stormfly, Snoutlout and Hookfang, and Fishlegs with Meatlug.
Zone 5: Tradition – Enter the Jade Palace with Kung Fu Panda and the Furious Five
Now it’s on to ancient China, where tradition and duty are highly honoured, but so is having fun with friends. Led by the legendary Dragon Warrior – Po, the Kung Fu Panda – and his idols the Furious Five – Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Monkey and Viper – the martial arts legacy of ancient China is safely protected. Guests enter the stunning Jade Palace, with its ornate dynastic decorations of vases, dragons and lanterns, to appreciate Chinese history and heritage and take a ride on the Slide of Destiny.
Zone 6: The Venetian Macao – Farewell from the Penguins
Now it’s time to say goodbye, but before leaving, guests sit inside a gondola and have apicture taken with the Penguins of Madagascar after completing theirmission and before crossing the canal bridge. The stars are twinkling in the sky as visitorswave a fond farewell to the DreamWorks gang in their frosty den. Now everyonecan head home with memories of an unforgettable journey.
