           RS sees potential in satellite TV and plans to work more aggressively by investing 200 million baht to push Channel 2 to the top of satellite TV by mid-2015 under the slogan “full flavored entertainment for you”, presenting more flavorful content in new programs. 
          Pornpan Techarungchaikul, COO of RS Public Company Limited, owner of Channel 2, recently revealed that Thailand is moving forward with the digital TV, and competition is getting more and more intense. Each channel tries to deliver high quality content to attract more viewers. However, satellite TV also has a lot of potential for growth. The more advanced digital TV becomes, the more satellite TV has to improve in order to meet the needs of the audience, in order to survive the fierce competition.
          Channel 2 has been very successful because it has a unique strength, bringing together stars and celebrities from all companies together, which is well received by the audience. The entertainment content is also fun and relaxing, available all day long. This results in a strong fan base, high rating, and significant growth. 
          Recently, it has introduced a new slogan “full flavored entertainment for you”, to reaffirm the channel’s strength in flavorful entertainment programs. Channel 2 is planning to invest 200 million baht to improve its content, production facilities, and broadcasting system in HD for more enjoyable viewing experience. RS is aiming for Channel 2 to become number one in satellite TV by mid-2015. At present, its rating is at number one among variety channels. The revenue this year is expected to have doubled from last year. 
          Pattira Palawatvichai, Executive Vice President Television Business of Channel 2, said that today, satellite and cable TV is accessed by 45 million viewers, or 70% of the Thai population. According to AC Nielsen, Channel 2 has 20 million viewers a month, and the number is growing constantly due to its flavorful programs. The channel focuses on two aspects, the first is bringing together stars and celebrities to make the programs interesting, and the second is the quality of the program in order to meet the needs of the fans. 
          The new slogan will be used from now on to reaffirm its flavorful offerings. It is planning to invite more stars and celebrities to join next year. The variety content is divided into three main groups. The first is variety shows presenting the latest news, such as “Sod Mai Thailand”, “Kon Dung Nung Clear”, “Show Tak Fong”, and “Dara Variety Poll”. The second is game shows and contests, such as “Game Dara Shalala” and “Show Muan Duan Mai”, which began on October 4. The third is travel shows, such as “Star Road Trip”, “Dara Talad Tak”, and “Krua Lan Tung”. Channel 2 is planning to add new programs throughout the year.
          “Although there are many new channels today, especially digital TV channels, Channel 2 is ready to compete because we are confident in our content. As long as our content has high quality and meet the needs of the audience, we can compete with any channel. We are now in our second year, and the rating continues to grow amidst the fierce competition of digital TV. This year, we are going do more marketing and public relations. We are discussing possibilities with many partners to create fun marketing campaigns throughout the year. I am very confident that Channel 2 can become number one in satellite TV in Thailand by mid-2015 as expected,” Pattira said.
