The Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok recently held an exciting performance of the “Corps of Drums” of the senior English line infantry regiment of the British Army, The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (or PWRR, also known as 'The Tigers') in front of the hotel for the pleasure of its valued guests.
With the collaboration of the Defence Section, British Embassy Bangkok, the hotel hosted all of the British Army drummers during the trip to Bangkok. This was a part of the recently held “Taste of Britain 2015: Food is Great”.
The British Embassy has managed to secure the services of the most decorated British Regiment in modern times; receiving 33 operational awards in 2004, including a Victoria Cross to add to the 56 already awarded to the regiment during its nearly 350 years of service to the Crown.?
A Corps of Drums is a musical unit of several national armies. Drummers were originally established in European armies to act as signallers. This role was fulfilled by trumpeters or buglers and timpanists in the cavalry and the artillery, who did not form into comparative formed bodies in the way that drummers did; therefore an orthodox corps of drums will exist only in the Infantry.
