"AXA group" joins hands with CARE International to build check dam in Project "Where the Rain Falls? : Water change, communities adjust"

Participation in protecting life and supporting the study about factors that impact the environment are the main principle in doing business of AXA group, the number one insurance brand of the world six year in a roll from InterBrand Rating. These principles become visible by supporting the research study under project "Where the Rain Falls?" or "Water change, communities adjust" in cooperation with CARE International or Rak Thai Foundation. They are studying rainfall pattern change that is impacted to the communities and social, the connection between rainfall pattern change and stabilization in food and people life style. They also study migration of residence in the area. There are case study in 8 countries worldwide i.e. Bangladesh, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Peru, Tanzania, Vietnam and Thailand. In the year 2014, AXA donates money around 2.3 million euro or 100 million baht to support this research. The research in Thailand picks up 5 districts in Chiang Mai province and Nan province. They found that there is climate change especially anomaly change of season and continuous rainfall volume. They are affecting to water volume for agriculture, consume, and also include food resource of pet and local residence.

Mr. Henri de Castries, CEO of AXA group, leads the executive team and employee volunteers to the field to build check dam at Baan Sam Sob, Mae Chaem district, Chiang Mai province. This check dam will use to slow the water during flood season, prevent the landslide and store water for the community. So the residences have water to use in dry season for agriculture and consume. This is the efficient water management and build sustainable to the communities. The CEO of AXA group said that AXA need to create social responsibility awareness among employee worldwide especially awareness about nature changes from human hands. We believe that this project will help global population to fight and cope with nature and environment that change. This project will run continually to make better life quality and better life style for residence in the community.

Mr.Nats Santivipanon, Head of Brand and Communications of AXA Insurance PCL shared the experience in building dam. He said it is the hard mission. Executive, employee and residence clear the area; get rid of leaf debris; lay bricks; carry stone, soil and sand to build the dam together. The dam was build little by little same as worker ants that work together until it became 5 dams that will help people life better. There will be water for eating and consuming all year round. He is proud to be part of taking care of the world and appreciate that he receive thank you word from residence in Baan Sam Sob and nearby communities.
