"The Whiffs" return to Bangkok with their a cappella magic!

          For two exclusive nights The Whiffenpoofs, Yale University's world-famous singing group will be performing in Bangkok for Sukosol Hotels. They will first perform at 8:30 pm on Friday, July 17 at Rattanakosin Lounge, The Sukosol. This event is Baht 500 nett with one standard cocktail or Baht 1,500 nett with cocktail and pre-show buffet dinner at Patummat International Restaurant in the hotel.
Alternatively, they will be on stage the following night (Saturday, July 18) at 7:30 pm at Opium Den, The Siam. The price is Baht 1,500++ and includes one hour of free-flow cocktails and canapés. Afterwards enjoy dinner either at Chon Thai Restaurant or Deco Bar & Bistro with a 15% discount.
About The Whiffenpoofs
          Every year, 14 talented Yale men are selected to join The Whiffenpoofs , the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Founded in 1909, "The Whiffs" began as a senior quartet that met for weekly concerts at Mory’s Temple Bar, the famous Yale Tavern. The Whiffenpoof Song, the group’s signature ballad, gained nationwide recognition when Rudy Vallée recorded a solo version in 1937. The song would later become one of the popular tunes of World War II. Later on, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, and many other artists followed suit with their own recordings.
Today, the group has become one of Yale’ s most celebrated and hallowed traditions, maintaining a performance schedule of over 200 concerts annually in addition to recording an album and embarking on a three-month world tour.
          In recent years, the Whiffenpoofs have performed for the likes of presidents Obama, Clinton, Bush II, Bush I, Mother Theresa and the Dalai Lama, in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Rose Bowl, and for events and programs such as the World Series, Saturday Night Live, The West Wing, NBC’s The Sing-OFF, and Fox’s Glee.
