Mr. Tommy Yang, Managing Director of TCL Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. – the distributor of quality electronics and appliances under the TCL brand, said, "The Thai electronics market has significant growth potential. While flat-screen TVs with LED and LCD panels have won over 60% of the markets in Europe and the US or 50% in China, these TV sets have a combined share of just 8-10% in Thailand. After 11 years in Thailand, the TCL brand has won the market's acceptance – resulting in growing sales. However, we had to adjust our priorities to cope with the intense competition in the electronics market. By choosing to focus on categories we are strong in and breaking out into new segments, we are able to drive sales and compete under TCL's global strategic direction."
In 2016, TCL plans to market its large QUHD TV Series, which made its debut in the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, United States. The series, which utilizes state-of-the-art technologies such as Quantum Dot, slim local dimming, and HRD to deliver visual effects beyond those of LED TVs and superior quality benchmarks compared to OLED screens, was met with an enthusiastic reception from CES attendees. QUHD TVs combine the world's slimmest designs with sharp, natural images that provide the most immersive of experiences. Furthermore, TCL's QUHD TV series also leads the way for the industry by incorporating cutting-edge features such as high-quality speakers and an operating system designed for TVs.
"TCL will introduce the QUHD TV series into Thailand's THB 28 million high-end TV market towards the end of the year's first quarter. The TVs will be marketed towards modern families with an interest in theatrical experiences at home. Our goal is to achieve a 20% share in the high-end TV segment within the year," concluded Mr. Yang.
