Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in cooperation between Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, Fine Arts Department, Kru Muay Thai Association, Thai Martial Art Institute Association, World Muay Thai Association and Professional Boxing Association of Thailand were blissfully succeed in raising awareness of the essence of Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony. As the concept "A Must For Once in a Lifetime", whoever learns Muay Thai must experience Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony in Thailand which is held annually
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand, says, "We were very proud about the project of 13th World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony. We received pleasant response from Thai boxers around the world to attend the ceremony, which aimed to promote and enhance the knowledge and understanding of Muay Thai to the foreigner who are interested in this Thai martial art to realize the importance of Muay Thai and Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony and travel to perform the ritual on 17th March in Thailand every year. In this year, we were proud to present the uniqueness of"Thainess" and the importance of Wai Kru Ram Muay ceremony. We were honored by the famous boxers such as "Buakaw Banchamek", "Samart Payakaroon", "Anuwat Kaewsamrit" and"Saengmanee Oumkatong Chiang Mai Gym", to lead Thai boxers from around the world to attend the Wai Kru Ram Muay Ceremony. Moreover, there were also a lot of activities, for example; professional Thai boxing competition of "Wonderful World Heritage Muay Thai Competition"which was the competition of professional Thai boxing between Thai boxers and foreign boxers; the fairs of famous Thai boxing gyms, and sales of products related to Thai boxing including the Thai boxing learning courses from various Thai boxing gyms; the exhibition of ancient weapons; demonstration of knife and sword making from Ban Aranyik which is the original method; mystic symbol tattoo making, and mystic symbol tattoo painting on the boxing vests; and Thai martial art performance.
Mr. Buakaw Banchamek says, I feel deeply proud and honoured to perform the Wai Kru Ram Muay and lead all Thai boxers from around the world to attend the ceremony. Wai Kru Ram Muay is what every boxer must practice first. I feel impressed to see the people love and interested in Muay Thai. In addition, there was also a close Meet and Greet activity for fans. It's a pity for anyone who misses the opportunity to attend this day.
