In celebration of World Environment Day, Ms. Chongkolnee Kerdkulrat, (middle, within the picture frame), Director of Finance, OZO Chaweng Samui and Amari Koh Samui, and Khun Methee Boonsuk (in front at left), Chief of Koh Samui Watershed Management Unit*, CSR Committee of OZO Chaweng Samui's sister hotel, Amari Koh Samui, together with a group of volunteers, successfully constructed their second check dam in 2017. This is the eighth dam to be completed following the launch of this initiative in January 2015. The construction of this check dam has received great support from staff members, guests and local business partners, including Funny Day Safari.
This is part of OZO's CSR project, titled OZO for H2O by OZO Chaweng Samui, which focuses on the environment, particularly on water, and helps to conserve and preserve the island's natural rainwater resources with the construction and maintenance of check dams in order to help regulate water flow, increase the level of underground water, and reduce soil erosion for the benefit of local communities.
OZO for H2O by OZO Chaweng Samui, in partnership with Koh Samui Watershed Management, is committed to building three check dams each year in Khao Pom, Samui's highest hill, which is located within the tropical rainforest. The goal is to raise 15,000 THB each year (5,000 THB per dam). Staff members, guests and business partners are invited to get involved through various fundraising activities.
