           About Baan Gerda
Baan Gerda is a small community 230 km north of Bangkok, where more than 90 HIV-positive and affected orphans live and receive medical treatment in family homes under the care of foster parents. This project is part of the Children's Rights Foundation. Children orphaned by AIDS who are HIV-positive often end up in tragic situations. They are less likely than others to find shelter with their extended families, and can be outcasts in their own communities. Baan Gerda provides family-style homes for orphans, as well as comprehensive HIV care. We believe this structure plays a critical role in the recovery and continued health of our children. All of the children attend school or kindergarten, while their foster parents engage in housekeeping and handicraft production.
