Cigna Insurance, a subsidiary of Cigna Corporation (NYSE:CI), kicked off its biggest-ever CSR event at the weekend with the "Cigna Run for Hearts" event, to raise money for people with heart disease and to improve awareness of how to prevent the disease.
Led by Mr. Julian Mengual, CEO and Country Manager of Cigna Thailand, along with the management team and Cigna staff took part in most challenging runs from all the ranges at Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park). Staff were challenged to run 2.6 kilometers, 5.2 kilometers or 7.8 kilometers to raise money for the 'Heart Foundation of Thailand under The Royal Patronage'.
Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in Thailand, and the company's efforts to improve heart health is part of its global and local mission to help improve the health, well-being, and sense of security of the people it serves. Cigna hopes to raise THB 750,000 for the Heart Foundation of Thailand.
Prior to the "Cigna Run For Hearts" event, staff had been raising funds by selling health and fitness items internally. On the day of the fun runs, Cigna also held CPR training and a cycling machine game to raise even more money.
