          Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister, Somkid Jatusripitak, visited the Hokkaido branch of Yanmar Agri Japan Co., Ltd. recently to inspect the company's facilities and technology. Yanmar executives led by Makoto Shinmura, Director of Yanmar Agribusiness Co., Ltd., together with Akira??Kawajiri, Corporate Planning Division, Group Divisional Manager; and Hiroshi Shima, General Manager, Yanmar Agri Japan Co., Ltd., Hokkaido Branch, welcomed the visitors and explained Yanmar's smart agricultural machinery and technology to the group.
          The visiting group comprised 32 participants including the Deputy Prime Minister, Thai government officers, members of Royal Thai Embassy, Tokyo, and members of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). With a long history of cooperation between the Thai Government and Yanmar, the visit was an opportunity for leading decision makers in the Thai government to learn about the advanced agricultural management and technology from one of the leading agricultural technology companies in Japan and the world. 
          The group visited the Yanmar Agri Solution Center in Hokkaido, which was established in 2014 to promote knowhow in agricultural machinery and services to farmers. The center is located in HM House Building, which also houses the Hokkaido offices of Yanmar Agri Japan, and has a dedicated space of 30,000 m2 for testing and demonstration of tractors and other equipment. Yanmar also provides courses on agriculture machinery, basic agricultural knowhow and new agricultural technologies to educate the next generation of farmers.
          The Hokkaido branch is one of the biggest Yanmar branches in Japan and is located in the strategic region of Hokkaido, a hub for farmers at the forefront of ICT and Smart Agriculture in Japan. Therefore, Yanmar Agri Japan has continued to develop its employees in order to keep up with the advanced agricultural technology and farmers' needs. Yanmar currently develops Smart Agriculture implementing autonomous agricultural machinery including Robot Tractors, rice transplanters and drones.
          The visit started with an overview of Yanmar's business presented by Makoto Shinmura, after which, Akira Kawajiri provided information about Yanmar's agricultural technology and management.

          Yanmar then demonstrated a Robot Tractor in the testing field. The participants were not only interested in the use of satellite technology in agriculture machinery, but also inquired about Yanmar's business in Thailand.

          Visiting Yanmar Agri Japan Co., Ltd. in Hokkaido was a great opportunity for the participants to observe the advanced agricultural technology, including Smart Agriculture that Yanmar has embraced, towards implementing it in Thailand's agricultural industry.
