CUEL Limited, together with Unithai Shipyard and Engineering Limited, awarded scholarships to local youth in nearby 11 communities through its 2020 Scholarship for Sustainable Educational Development programme at Operation Building 3, CUEL Limited.

In this event, Ms. Jinda Tanomrod, Laem Chabang Governor, presided over the event which were attended by Attasit Korchaiyapruk, Ph.D., Managing Director of CUEL, 11 community leaders, guardians and scholarship students. The Governor also did the honour by presenting grants to 10 qualified schoolchildren who met criteria this year.
Ms. Jinda Tanomrod said, “I really appreciate CUEL’s commitment and contribution towards the betterment of surrounded communities. For two decades of its operation, CUEL has an excellent business management along with minimising environmental impacts to all communities. CUEL always extends its continued support to the communities especially the promotion of educational-related activities among youth”.
Attasit Korchaiyapruk, Ph.D., added, “As a responsible corporate citizen, we place strong emphasis on the continuity of boosting synergistic growth of both company and nearby communities sustainably. The scholarship programme is part of our commitments which enable us to create value and deliver social return for the communities.”
Early this month, community relation team of both company paid scholarship earners a visit to deeper understand their needs and problems and offer academic advice to them. Ms. Jiraphak Tarasak, fourth year student of Kasetsart University, said “I stay with a 66-year-old grandmother, a father who has intellectual challenge and a younger brother. The Scholarship really helps lighten financial burden for my family. The grant will be allocated for the education expenses of my brother and mine and other household expenses”.
The Scholarship for Sustainable Educational Development programme has started its inaugural year since 2018 from a collaboration of CUEL Limited and Unithai Shipyard and Engineering Limited with the aim of enabling the local youth in nearby 11 communities who is in need of financial assistance to pursue their higher education in Vocational Certificate level, Diploma Vocational Certificate level and University Level. To qualify for the grant, students must meet the criteria that require to achieve total grade point average (GPAX) of 2.75 and exhibit positive behaviour, recommended by the community leader. Each qualified student will be awarded with fund of 20,000 Baht per academic year.
