Ministry of Energy Thailand join forces with PTT, PTTEP and dmg events to host the regional summits "Future Energy Asia" and "Future Mobility Asia"

The Ministry of Energy Thailand join forces with PTT Public Company Limited, PTTEP and dmg events, the global conference and exhibition organiser, to host "Future Energy Asia" and "Future Mobility Asia" 2022 from 20-22 July at BITEC Hall 98 & 99 in Bangkok, Thailand. The integrated exhibitions and summits drive forward Southeast Asia's energy transition and clean mobility missions. Convening Ministers, policymakers, industry CEOs and international investors from over 50 countries, the events provide an effective platform that will spark strategic and technical discussions and showcase world-leading clean energy and mobility innovations.

"It is apparent that we are now facing many challenges with the enormous shifts under way in the energy sector raised by the energy transition coupled with the pandemic and current global energy crisis situation." Mrs. Premrutai Vinaiphat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Energy, Ministry of Energy set the scene.

Energy Transition and Clean Mobility Are Inextricably Linked
"At COP26 Leader's Summit, Thailand announced the targets to achieve Carbon Neutrality in 2050 and reach the Net Zero Greenhouse Gas emission in 2065. To achieve such pathways, Thailand is formulating our 'National Energy Plan 2022 or NEP2022' toward clean and green energy future. The NEP2022 under the concept of go green with energy security and competitiveness for sustainable energy future will follow a 4D Policy that consists of Decarbonization, Decentralization, Deregulation, and Digitalization." Mrs Premrutai Vinaiphat elaborated on Thailand's plans. In addition, "Thailand is now actively moving towards a major global production base of EV and parts. The National Electric Vehicle Policy Committee has approved the goals of promoting the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) which is called 30@30 policy aiming to promote domestic production of EV up to 30 percent of total production within 2030."

"Under the 30@30 policy, there are several supportive measures and incentives for stimulating EV market. These will include encouraging investments of charging station networks, preparing standards and regulations for applying for licenses, and developing EV data platforms. For battery industry, we set a goal to develop the battery industry to reach a 40 GWh Giga Factory by 2030. Moreover, 12,000 units of the fast-charging station will be installed around the country and the attractive electricity tariff for EV has been set as low as 9 cents per kWh."

The energy transition and clean mobility missions are inextricably linked. Besides Thailand, regional ASEAN neighbours are backing similar pathway, as ASEAN nations move towards achieving a net zero goal between 2050-2070.

Future Energy Asia and Future Mobility Asia Convene Global CEO Speakers
Co-hosted with PTT, Future Energy Asia Exhibition and Summit 2022 presents 130 energy sector global speakers shaping energy transition - the most influential, impactful line up since its inception in 2018. Dedicated to ASEAN's energy transition, Future Energy Asia has specialised zones - hydrogen, gas & LNG and carbon capture, and renewables. Highlights include Thailand CCUS Technology Consortium where you see carbon dioxide crystalise; PTT and PTTEP showcases of next generation decarbonisation, robotics, AI and mobility technologies.

Future Mobility Asia, supported by 87 industry key stakeholder exhibitors from over 18 countries, enthrals attendees with engaging activities. These include the Thailand Clean Mobility Showcase led by Ministry of Energy and Board of Investment; innovation showcase zone featuring fascinating EVs; as well as EV demonstration zone where you can test drive EVs. Attendees will be able to gain access to the clean mobility eco-system - from passenger & commercial vehicle OEMs, battery/energy storage, EV charging infrastructures, enabling technology and aftermarket supplies. Leading organisations include Dassault Systemes, EVlomo, Hexagon, Zeiss, Amazon Web Services, Geotab, Maxion Wheels, TE Connectivity, Abeam Consulting, FOMM, Great Wall Motors, Smart Mobility Research Center, ONiON Mobility and many others.

Where Partnerships Are Made and Announced
Over three days, Future Energy Asia and Future Mobility Asia will connect over 10,000 trade professionals for critical dialogues, networking and deal-making. Major companies leverage on this important industry event to announce partnerships. Thailand Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Development Consortium, comprising multiple industries, government and academic institutions, was announced at Future Energy Asia. The Consortium's main goal was to create advancements of CCUS technology, from research to real world utilisation in the industrial sectors.

Future Mobility Asia will also witness two cross-border Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed between Singapore and Thailand companies. SWAT Mobility would collaborate with Thai Post Distribution to conduct joint study on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the management of route planning and optimising load utilisations of postal vehicles so as to increase productivity and drive costs down. Another MOU saw Banpu NEXT, Cherdchai and Durapower working together to set up a Joint Venture company in Thailand to manufacture battery systems, in support of growth of smart mobility in Thailand.
