BJC Big C Foundation, in collaboration with UNICEF Thailand, continues to promote quality early childhood development (ECD) by launching Biggy’s Club child-friendly spaces for children aged 1-8 years at 10 Big C branches across Thailand. These facilities, which is part of BJC Big C’s Corporate Social Responsibility activities, will provide a space for young children to play and participate in fun and learning activities such as reading, while older children can use the space alone while a parent shops at Big C.
Mr. Aswin and Ms. Thapanee Techacharoenwikul, Vice President and Committee Secretary and Treasurer of the BJC Big C Foundation, said “Shopping is like paradise for parents, especially mothers who have limited time to shop. Some parents bring children along, while others leave them at home, but in both cases may worry about their children and rush through their shopping. Big C sought a way to ease parents' concerns by offering child-friendly spaces that provides children with fun and learning activities while parents shop. This can help parents and customers enjoy a more relaxed shopping experience while children are happy, educated, and developed.”
Mr. Aswin added, “Biggy’s Club offers a child-friendly space for children aged 1-8 years and will launch at 10 pilot Big C branches, starting in Bangkok and its vicinity, including Big C Saphan Kwai, Big C Rama 2, Big C Bangplee, Big C Sumutprakarn, Big C Suksawad, Big C Khon Kaen, Big C Pitsanulok, Big C Surat Thani, Big C Hatyai, and Big C Chiang Rai.”
Biggy’s Club features indoor play spaces equipped with books, toys and games that promotes children's development while providing fun for the whole family. Safety is a top priority. Biggy’s Club is suitable for children aged 1 to 8 years and is open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Children under 4 years old are welcome to enjoy the space with their parents while children 5-8 years old can use the space with supervision from Biggy’s Club staff.
“The partnership between UNICEF and BJC Big C Foundation aims to ensure that every child in Thailand has a quality start in life, with opportunities for learning and full potential development,” said Kyungsun Kim, UNICEF Representative for Thailand. "Child-friendly spaces and activities, including reading corners, or drawing and coloring, provide opportunities for children to learn and play. This turns a family shopping trip into an extra time to support early childhood development."
