Regional Solidarity: Minor Hotels Supports UNHCR's Emergency Appeal for Myanmar Earthquake Relief

Press Releases »

In response to the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar in early 2025, Minor Hotels has made a contribution of $49,094 (THB 1.6 million) to support the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)'s emergency appeal. This donation will assist in delivering essential humanitarian aid to millions of individuals impacted by the disaster, underscoring Minor Hotels' continued commitment to social responsibility and regional solidarity in times of crisis.

Regional Solidarity: Minor Hotels Supports UNHCR's Emergency Appeal for Myanmar Earthquake Relief

The earthquake has caused widespread destruction across Myanmar, compounding an already fragile humanitarian situation marked by ongoing conflict and displacement. The hardest-hit areas include communities already hosting large numbers of internally displaced persons (IDPs), leaving them even more vulnerable.

To address the urgent needs on the ground, UNHCR launched a $15.9 million emergency appeal aimed at delivering life-saving assistance to 1.2 million people. The appeal focuses on the distribution of essential relief items, emergency shelter, and protection services for those most at risk. UNHCR is working closely with local partners and authorities to ensure aid reaches remote and severely affected areas, while promoting a community-based approach to resilience and recovery.

"In the face of this devastating crisis, Minor Hotels stands shoulder to shoulder with the affected communities. We cannot turn away from human suffering — we must act. That is why we are proud to support this vital initiative and UNHCR's tireless efforts to deliver lifesaving aid and protection to those who need it most. Our commitment goes beyond words — we are determined to play our part in bringing hope, relief, and dignity to those enduring unimaginable hardship," said Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor Group.

This contribution underscores Minor Hotels' long-standing commitment to social responsibility and regional solidarity in times of need. For further details on our commitment to corporate responsibility, please visit https://www.minorhotels.com/en/sustainability.
