St. George's University Opens January 2026 Admission for Aspiring Thai Medical Students

Since its founding in 1976, SGU has graduated more than 23,000 doctors, many of whom have gone on to practice in the United States and around the world, and are part of a strong alumni network.* For the past eleven years, SGU has also been the largest provider of doctors into first-year US residencies, with over 1,035 placements in 2025 alone.**

The January intake offers Thai students a distinct advantage, enabling an earlier start to medical training from the traditional fall cycle. This alternative pathway provides a more intimate learning environment with smaller cohorts, fostering closer faculty and peer interaction. Additionally, students' study period will be aligned with the global academic calendar, offering crucial preparation time for residency applications and the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).

SGU offers multiple programs and tracks catering to students' educational backgrounds, including the four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program and five-, six-, or seven-year MD tracks. Graduates are eligible to apply for licensure in various countries, subject to local requirements, and gain clinical experience through a wide network of more than 75 affiliated sites in the US and UK. Financial aid and scholarships, such as academic merit-based and community-focused awards, are available for qualified Thai applicants, supporting students from diverse backgrounds in pursuing their education.

SGU also provides tremendous support to their international student communities with diverse entry points. The Grenada campus has intakes in January, April, and August. Moreover, through a partnership with Northumbria University in the United Kingdom, students can also choose to start their medical studies in September or January. This flexibility allows students to choose the starting location that best suits their academic and personal goals while remaining connected to SGU's global community.
