Suntory Beverage & Food (Thailand) Joins Forces with PCD, BMA, and Klongwises to Advance "BRAND'S Bring Back 2025" by Hosting "Trash Talk: Cool Schools, No Mixed Waste" Seminar for BMA School Teachers

Mrs. Mathuvalee Stithyudhakarn, Vice President - Corporate Affairs, Thailand and Indochina, Suntory Beverage & Food (Thailand) Co., Ltd., stated "'The Triple B: BRAND'S Bring Back' project is one of the key initiatives that reflects our company's commitment to operating under the core value of 'Giving Back to Society' and our 3Rs policy (Reduce - Reuse - Recycle). This project aims to foster social responsibility and encourage Thai youth to participate in waste separation at the source within schools, ensuring proper waste management. Through collaboration with public and private partners, including the Pollution Control Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Environment Office, the Education Office of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and Klongwises, in both promoting and implementing the project, we launched this project in May by distributing 450 waste segregation edutainment kits to schools under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to encourage learning through play and hands-on activities. By recognizing schools as central hubs for youth education, the initiative effectively instils source-level waste management practices within the school environment.

Recently, in collaboration with our partners, we organized a seminar titled 'Trash Talk: Cool Schools, No Mixed Waste' to introduce the project and share sustainable waste management knowledge with over 120 teachers from interested schools. The seminar featured expert speakers from the Pollution Control Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Environment Office of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The aim was to promote learning processes related to waste separation and waste bank operations in schools, aligning with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's 'No Mixed Waste' policy. Following the application period, the project will select 10 schools to receive support for one theoretical and practical workshop each. Additionally, these schools will be provided with educational kits to establish waste banks, further fostering awareness and practices of waste segregation for sustainable environmental management in the future."

Mr. Tananchai Wannasook, Deputy Director of Pollution Control Department stated "The Pollution Control Department (PCD), as the main agency responsible for overseeing and driving the country's waste management policies, has developed the 2nd National Action Plan on Waste Management (2022-2026) as an integrated master plan to mobilize waste management activities continuously. Under this plan, the PCD will collaborate with various agencies to ensure integrated solid waste management. Suntory Beverage & Food (Thailand) is one of the network partners operating under the 'Triple B: BRAND'S Bring Back' project. The PCD supports this initiative by providing expert speakers who rotate participation and share knowledge through various project activities. At the recent seminar 'Trash Talk: Cool Schools, No Mixed Waste' the PCD contributed knowledge on 'Guidelines for Sustainable Environmental and Waste Management Practices within Schools' to participating school management and teachers. Furthermore, the PCD will support upcoming camps by observing, advising, and assisting in knowledge transfer within schools. This is to ensure that the 10 pilot schools can effectively apply the knowledge gained from the camps to expand and replicate sustainable practices and successfully establish waste banks".

Mr. Pornphrom N.S. Vikitsreth, Adviser to Governor of Bangkok and Chief Sustainability Officer stated "One of Bangkok's key sustainability visions and missions is sustainable urban waste management—to enhance efficiency and drive tangible source?level action. This is an urgent priority under the Governor's policy, which emphasizes educating and instilling waste separation habits from the very beginning. To date, BMA has continuously promoted waste segregation knowledge across all BMA?administered schools. The 'Triple B: BRAND'S Bring Back' project is another exemplary initiative showcasing the vital role of private-sector collaboration in embedding these practices in youth, aligning closely with Bangkok's 'No Mixed Waste' policy. To ensure the program's full impact, BMA has tasked the Education Office with promoting the initiative and encouraging school participation, while the Environment Office is responsible for arranging expert speakers for the seminar topic: 'Separate, No Mixed Waste, Bring Back Together' for participating school management and teachers in the 'Trash Talk: Cool Schools, No Mixed Waste' seminar. Additionally, both departments will jointly serve as school selection and judging committees, as well as observe each activity to provide feedback for developing or expanding these activities, leading to effectively and sustainably enhancing knowledge and instilling awareness in waste management and source separation among youth."

The "Triple B: BRAND'S Bring Back" project is now accepting applications from upper-primary schools under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Department of Education. Eligible schools must be medium- to large-sized, with at least 200 students in Grade 4-6. Ten schools in Bangkok will be selected to participate in the project and will receive support for one theoretical and practical workshop each. Additionally, these schools will be provided with educational kits to establish waste banks to enhance and develop effective waste management systems within schools, while also fostering student learning and engagement in sustainable environmental stewardship.Interested schools can apply via [email protected] or request application forms by calling 061?887?1188.
