Bangchak Group Executive Joins Panel Discussion on "Global Energy Crisis and Thailand's Path Forward" under BSK 12 Program

Mrs. Narupan shared strategic perspectives on the global energy crisis and oil-price volatility stemming from developments in the Middle East, which have had significant implications for Thailand's energy security due to the country's high reliance on energy imports, accounting for nearly 90% of total demand. During this period, Bangchak played a key role in securing crude oil supplies for domestic refining operations at full capacity to meet continued domestic demand, while diversifying sourcing to reduce dependence on the Middle East. The Group continues to manage refinery utilization in line with demand and maintain adequate crude and product inventories to support uninterrupted refining operations, contributing to national energy stability.

Looking ahead, she emphasized that Thailand should accelerate the practical adoption of biofuels to reduce import dependence by 10-20% in the near term. Fuels such as B20 and E20 can be readily supported by existing infrastructure, strengthening energy security while creating added value for the agricultural sector, promoting domestic economic circulation, and reducing exposure to foreign exchange outflows and energy price volatility.

She further noted that improved energy efficiency and the development of renewable and alternative energy sources will play a crucial role in long term system balance. Future energy options, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (HEFA SPK SAF), hydrogen, and nuclear energy, will be pivotal in addressing the Energy Trilemma of security, accessibility, and sustainability. These directions align with Bangchak Group's commitment to advancing Greenovation under its vision of "Crafting a Sustainable World with Evolving Greenovation."
