AXA Insurance Thailand Urges Families to Safeguard Children's Health from Mosquito-Borne Diseases This Rainy Season

According to the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, illnesses such as Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika, Malaria, and Encephalitis remain a persistent concern during the rainy months, particularly among children who spend more time outside the home during school holidays. In the Ministry's 2025 report, Thailand reported over 43,587 cases of Dengue fever alone, with more than 35 fatalities. While public awareness of mosquito-borne diseases has improved in recent years, risky behaviors such as outdoor activities without proper protection and the presence of stagnant water around the home continue to be leading contributors to infection.

To support families during this high-risk period, AXA Insurance Thailand highlights five key preventive measures to help reduce exposure:

• Eliminate standing water in areas such as plant pots, containers, and unused items that can collect rainwater and become mosquito breeding grounds.
• Dress for protection by encouraging children to wear long-sleeved clothing, particularly during early mornings and evenings.
• Apply mosquito repellents before outdoor activities using child-safe products.
• Ensure safe sleeping environments by using mosquito nets or screened rooms.
• Monitor symptoms closely and seek medical attention promptly if signs such as high fever, headache, or skin rashes occur. Parents are also advised to avoid administering aspirin or ibuprofen to children with fever, as it may increase the risk of complications.

In addition to health prevention, financial preparedness for unexpected medical expenses is equally important. AXA Insurance Thailand introduces the "Tropical Disease Insurance," designed to specifically cover illnesses transmitted by mosquitoes and other tropical diseases. With annual premiums starting at 146 Baht, no medical check-up is required, and benefits can reach up to 30,000 Baht. The policy also allows children aged 15 years and above to apply independently and provides a lump-sum payout after at least one night of inpatient hospitalization. Customers can receive their policy instantly via email when purchasing online, ensuring immediate protection.
