Shandong Water Conservancy Vocational College Concludes Sixth Training Program at Lao Ban-Mo College

On Aug. 8, the sixth overseas vocational training program at the Ban-Mo College in Laos, hosted by Shandong Water Conservancy Vocational College, concluded. Since the project's inception in January 2025, the college has completed six consecutive on-site training missions in Laos. These efforts have provided robust talent support for the high-quality development of Chinese enterprises operating in the country, marking a milestone in the college's initiative to expand its vocational education globally.

The Lao Ban-Mo College stands as a significant achievement of the college's implementation of the "industry-led education" and "overseas expansion alongside enterprises" strategy. Through a collaborative partnership with the Nonferrous Metals Industry Talent Center, Asia-Potash International (Laos) Co., Ltd., and Khammouane Technical College in Laos, the four parties have jointly established this platform. By aligning with the localized talent demands of overseas industrial and mining enterprises, the program delivers targeted skill cultivation.

Adhering to the principle of "scenario-based teaching and job-oriented training," the college establishes classrooms within mining workshops, providing hands-on instruction for critical, in-demand roles such as electricians, auto mechanics, and equipment maintenance technicians. To date, vocational skills training has been delivered to 1,800 Lao employees and preliminary and intermediate vocational skill assessments have been conducted for 252 individuals. Furthermore, the college has assisted enterprises in conducting 174 online interviews, placing 14 highly skilled local talents into job positions. This initiative has effectively alleviated the high costs of expatriate staffing and the shortage of local technical expertise, providing tangible support for the stable production and expansion of Chinese enterprises overseas.

The college has also integrated the instruction of Chinese language and vocational skills and implemented a "1+1+1" joint training pathway, which involves Chinese educational institutions, Lao educational institutions, and Chinese enterprises operating overseas. A full-chain talent development system that encompasses training, certification, employment, and further education has been established. Through school-enterprise collaboration, a replicable and scalable new model for exporting vocational education has been formed.

Looking ahead, the college will continue to cultivate localized and specialized skilled talents for Chinese enterprises expanding globally, further enhancing the international reputation of Shandong's vocational education brand.
