This will lead to automation, integration and reuse of data across various applications. It is foreseen that future-generation e-business systems will employ the Semantic Web as one of their fundamental technologies. In order to realize this vision, supporting standards, technologies and policies must be designed to enable machines to understand Web contents. This talk will introduce the basic concepts of the Semantic Web, its related standards, technologies, policies as well as its applications to e-business. Nowadays, it influences many of biological fields of studies, both viewpoints and processes. It also lead to several state-of-the-art breakthroughs, including human genome decoding, human stem cells discovering, mammalian cloning, some genetically modified organisms (both plants and animals) engineering and new types of medical vaccines and therapies inventing. Along with these beneficial outcomes, ethical, legal and safety issues on some applications are widely concerning and debating.
