DHL CHOSEN AS SOLE OFFICIAL AIR EXPRESS COMPANY FOR ASIA-PACIFIC ADVERTISING FESTIVAL 1998

Bangkok--Mar 10--DHL DHL is proud to have been selected as the sole official air express company for ADFEST’ 98, said Mr. Tony Sloan, DHL’s General Manager in Thailand. ADFEST’ 98, or “The Asia-Pacific Advertising Festival 1998” is Thailand’s first great chance to show the world that it is capable of organizing a major international advertising event. In this business, getting the right documents on time is one essential factor to success for contestants, exhibitors, and organizers alike. That is why, said Mr. Sloan, DHL was chosen. “We know exactly what’s expected of us,” he asserted, “because we’ve been serving this particular sector for decades. DHL has been the official air express company at the Cannes Film Festival for over 40 years. And just last year we handled all deliveries for the 1997 Singapore Film Fest.” ADFEST’ 98, at 3-day forum for regional advertising leaders during March 4-6, 1998, will be held at Westin Chiang Mai Hotel in the Northern Thai city of Chiang Mai. This will be the first annual advertising awards competition and festival specifically for the Asia-Pacific region. Participants will be coming from 18 countries, namely Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Japan, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Indonesia, Macao, Bangladesh, India, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Thailand. The very high standards of accuracy and punctuality typical of DHL will be put to the test by the blizzard of over 1,000 competition entries, videotapes, exhibits, and documents, such as forms, invoices, and copies of bank transfers, that must be shipped in and out before, during, and after the event. DHL therefore plans to open its own booth during the festival to make its service that much more speedy and efficient. “ADFEST’ 98,” said Mr. Sloan, “is expected to generate revenue of 40-50 million baht for Chiang Mai and Thailand as a whole.
