DHL WINS ADFEST ‘98 BUSINESS

Bangkok--Mar 10--DHL DHL Worldwide Express, has been selected as the sole official air express company for all ADFEST’ 98 deliveries. ADFEST’ 98, or “The Asia-Pacific Advertising Festival 1998”, is a regional competition which involves judging the best TV and print ads, not only for the purpose of recognising excellence, but for showcasing Asia’s best examples of creativity in communications. DHL’s General Manager in Thailand, Mr Tony Sloan, said that “DHL is proud to have been chosen to provide this vital service to this year’s festival”, the first to be held in Thailand. “ADFEST’ 98 is a prime opportunity for Thailand to show the world that it is capable of organizing a major international advertising event. Last year we also handled all deliveries for the 1997 Singapore Film Fest.” ADFEST’ 98, a 3-day forum for regional advertising leaders was held March 4-6, 1998, at the Westin Chiang Mai Hotel, in Thailand’s North. This awards competition is an international show which offers Thailand the opportunity to show the potential for growth in the local advertising industry. ADFEST’ 98 promises to generate revenue of 40-50 million Baht for Chiang Mai, and Thailand. Participants from throughout the Asia-Pacific region will come from 18 countries, namely Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Japan, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Indonesia, Macao, Bangladesh, India, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Thailand. The very high standards of accuracy and punctuality typical of DHL will be put to the test by the blizzard of over 1,000 competition entries, videotapes, exhibits, and documents, that must be shipped in and out of the festival before, during, and after the event. DHL will open its own booth during the festival to ensure that the various entry forms, payments, invoices and bank transfers all receive fast and efficient processing, up to DHL’s exacting standards throughout the event. “We believe that by helping make this international festival a grand success, Thailand can benefit as a whole.
