The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has released figures on securities
trading in 1998 and for the month of December 1998.
1.Market Summary in 1998
Turnover volume for 1998 totaled 70,835.95 million shares. Turnover value
for 1998 totaled Bt855.17 billion and the average daily turnover totaled Bt3.50 billion.
The SET Index closed at 355.81 on 30 December 1998, a drop of 16.88 points,
or 4.53 per cent from the close of 372.69 at the end of 1997. The SET Index reached
a high of 558.92 on 3 February 1998 and a low of 207.31 on 4 September 1998.
Bangkok Bank topped the list of the ten most actively traded stocks with a
turnover of Bt48.56 billion.
Securities One (S-ONE : Broker No. 13) was the most active of the SET s
members in 1998 with a trading turnover of Bt 173 billion.
For securities classified by types of investors groups in 1998, the most
active group was individual investor. Second and third were foreign investors and
institutional investors respectively.
