Thai Bodybuilders to compete for the 26th HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup - newswit

Bangkok--20 Apr--Thana Burin Asia Pacific The Thai Bodybuilding Association, under the support of Sports Authority of Thailand, in co-operation with Central Pattana Plc, which manages Central Town Rattanatibet, Robinson Department Store Plc, Brave Heart International Plc, Thai Sport Supplement Co Ltd and Dermapon have today jointly organised a press conference to announce the 26th HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup’s Thai Bodybuilding Championships scheduled for 22-23 April 2006 at Activities Ground located on the 3rd floor of Central Town Rattanatibet. The competition will select the best from among 200 bodybuilders to represent Thailand in the international SEAGAMES 2007, and in more than four international bodybuilding championships. Over 250,000 baht in cash will be awarded to the best bodybuilders in each category. Mr Pakpong Kriangsak, President of Thai Bodybuilding Association, said “The Thai Bodybuilding Association has grown for more than 45 years, and Thai competitors have won several international bodybuilding competitions. To further develop the bodybuilding and fitness athletes, the Thai Bodybuilding Association has organised competitions to advance the sport and select the best bodybuilders in Thailand. The 26th HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup is an important competition to develop quality bodybuilders. The upcoming competition is honoured by the acceptance of Lt Gen Sakan Mitkasem as President of the competition. Mr Pakpong added “In this year’s 26th HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup, some 200 bodybuilders and fitness athletes from around Thailand have shown their interests to join the 2-day competition on 22nd-23rd April 2006.” According to Mr Pakpong, “The 1st day of the event will start at 1000 hrs to conduct the selection stage in all categories, and the 2nd day will have Gen Yutthasak Sasiprapa, Executive Chairman of the Olympic Committee of Thailand presiding over the opening ceremony.” Mr Pakpong said Mr Thailand would be selected from the final selections in the 7 bodybuilding and fitness categories, and would receive the plague of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. He said winners would also be selected to represent the Thai Bodybuilding Association in various competitions, including the 8th South East Asian Men Bodybuilding Championships and 1st Singapore Invitational Championships scheduled for 18-22 May 2006 in Singapore, Asian Championships (Women & Men’s Juniors) scheduled for September at Hanoi in Vietnam, 24th IFBB World Women’s Bodybuilding, Fitness & Body Fitness Championships at Santa Susanna in Spain, the 60th IFBB World Men’s Bodybuilding Championships at Ostrava in Czech Republic, and the 24th SEAGAMES in Thailand. “The 26th HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup has received strong support from several organisations, including Central Town Rattanathibet, Robinson Department Store Plc, Brave Heart International Plc, Thai Sport Supplement Co Ltd and Dermapon.
