Manulife Thailand has increased its capital to THB935 million for future business growth

Manulife Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited (Manulife Thailand) announced today that it has raised its capital from THB690 million to THB 935 million to position the company for future growth in the country. Mr. Alan Ng, President and CEO of Manulife Thailand said: “The increase in capital does not only showcase Manulife’s commitment to all policyholders and customers in Thailand, it also enables the company to continue its long-term strategic growth plan as a financial and insurance company in Thailand. “The THB245 million capital injection is to align with Manulife’s business plan to step up its presence and business in Thailand. To better serve our customers and to offer products and services with higher premium income, Manulife Thailand will continue to invest in the country.” Further, this capital injection was done in view of the introduction of the new risk-based capital regulation in September this year by the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC). This decision reflects the company’s significant financial strength and its readiness for future business growth in Thailand. Manulife Thailand has also earned the Prime Minister’s Insurance Award for 2010. This is the third consecutive year that Manulife Thailand has won a Prime Minister’s Award as the Best Insurance Company of the Year with Outstanding Management Development.
