Thai bourse announces winners of 2016 economic contest for primary and high school levels

          The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Romchatra Foundation and organizing partners, has announced the winners of "The Diamond Crown in Economics" the annual contest for youth from primary school to university level to win scholarships and overseas study trip, with Sirijira Janrungautai, a student from Wattana Wittaya Academy and Pranaidej Hengswat from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School receiving the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cups.
          This year's competition for primary and high school levels, held during September 10-11 at Satree Wittaya School II, Bangkok, could attract 5,101 candidates from 1,156 schools nationwide, an all-time high number of candidates.
          SET President Kesara Manchusree said, "This unique annual contest, organized for the eighth consecutive year, aims to enhance students' excellence in economics, personal finance management and insurance, especially applying the royal sufficiency economy philosophy, to finally form a firm foundation among youth, leading towards sustainable economy."
          The four gold medalists were: Punnapa Pobsirikasem from Suteetorn School (junior primary school level); Sirijira Janrungautai from Wattana Wittaya Academy (senior primary school level); Sarun Tripattaranan from Patumwan Demonstration School, Srinakharinwirot University (junior high school level); and Pranaidej Hengswat from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School (senior high school level). In addition to the gold medal, each student was also awarded a certificate and a scholarship.
          The winners in the senior primary school level and senior high school level also received the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup. On top of that, the top three winners in the high school level, together with their teachers, would be exclusively granted study trips abroad.
          The competition has gained increasing attention from youth and educational institutions. The eight competitions, altogether has successfully attracted the total of 29,754 students from 7,275 schools nationwide. The organizing partners included Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Economics, Satree Wittaya School II, Bangkok, Thai Life Assurance Association and The Crown Property Bureau. The competition was also supported by Capital Market Development Fund Foundation, Siam Commercial Bank Economic Intelligence Center and President Bakery pcl.
