Centara Grand Hotel at Central Plaza Ladprao, Bangkok has been awarded an honorary plaque as the result of an evaluation and certification process by the No.5 Hotel Project, a collaborative venture between the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and the Green Leaf Foundation, aimed at improving energy efficiency and environmental quality standards in hotel operations in order to promote sustainable energy management practices.
In order to promote an increased commitment to environmental conservations, for this venture the Green Leaf Foundation will assess 5-star hotels in terms of Human Resource (HR) management and the use of renewable energy (RE). The evaluation criteria are divided into four areas, which include adherence to the company's policies and practices, personnel development in energy conservation and greenhouse gas reduction, energy conservation and greenhouse gas reduction public relations campaigns, and energy management and greenhouse gas reduction efforts.
The 5-star hotel project, staged in collaboration with the Green Leaf Foundation, aims to improve electricity usage efficiency throughout hotel establishments, as well as seeking to study and develop efficiency standards in energy management and energy efficiency (EE) for use as criteria for evaluating participating hotels. EGAT (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand) will consider awarding the 5-star label to hotels that successfully fulfill all criteria and achieve the specified performance levels.
Furthermore, the institution will collectively promote knowledge transfer regarding energy conservation and environmental sustainability to the personnel of these establishments.
