depa Delivers First Batch of Agricultural Drones to 86 Communities, Boosting "1 Tambon 1 Digital (Chumchon Drone Jai) Project"

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President and CEO of the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), shared that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and depa have been integrating efforts with public and private network partners to continuously drive the 1 Tambon 1 Digital (Chumchon Drone Jai) Project. This initiative aims to promote a digital ecosystem and elevate farmers and communities across Thailand with domestically produced agricultural drone technology that meets depa's dSURE standards. depa is advancing the program by establishing centres for drone flight training and agricultural drone maintenance while organising training sessions to develop the drone skills of farmers and communities nationwide, thereby enabling them to become efficient drone service providers.

Recently, depa delivered the first batch of agricultural drones to farmers in 86 communities across 22 provinces. These include 2 communities in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, 3 in Pathum Thani, 11 in Nakhon Sawan, 2 in Suphan Buri, 1 in Kanchanaburi, 1 in Sukhothai, 8 in Chaiyaphum, 17 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 2 in Phetchaburi, 1 in Sa Kaeo, 1 in Chonburi, 1 in Surin, 1 in Yasothon, 5 in Loei, 1 in Bueng Kan, 1 in Sakon Nakhon, 1 in Maha Sarakham, 3 in Udon Thani, 6 in Roi Et, 1 in Nakhon Phanom, 3 in Kalasin, and 14 in Amnat Charoen. Additionally, drone pilot trainings for agriculture were also provided to all communities that received drones. The trainings include theoretical sessions conducted by expert instructors and practical sessions where trainees get to operate agricultural drones.

"Agricultural drones are crucial tools for enhancing production efficiency, reducing costs, minimising labour and work time and lowering health risks from chemical exposure. depa aims to upskill at least 1,000 farmers and community members nationwide to become drone service providers within one year. This will lead to the use of agricultural drones in 500 communities, or approximately 10,000 households, covering over 4 million rai of agricultural land. The delivery of agricultural drones is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of August," expressed the depa President and CEO.
