Check Point Software Reveals Thai Organisations Are Attacked Over 70% More Than The Global Average

Check Point(R) Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP), a leading provider of cyber security solutions globally, reveals that Thailand's cyber security landscape is facing a growing crisis, with organisations in the country experiencing an average of 3,180 cyberattacks per week per organisation in the last six months (August 2024- January 2025) — far surpassing the global average of 1,843 attacks per week per organisation. This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for stronger cyber security measures as the country continues its digital transformation.

Phishing and Banking Malware on the Rise

Among the most pressing cyber threats in Thailand are phishing scams and banking malware, both of which have significantly higher infection rates than the global average. According to Check Point Intelligence Report, ransomware incidents in Thailand account for 6% of cyberattacks, compared to the global average of 4%, while banking malware is responsible for 9.5% of attacks, compared to 2.8% globally. This concerning trend is in line with Bank of Thailand's findings, revealing that Thai bank customers had suffered losses of over 60 billion baht to online financial frauds in the last 2 years.

Moreover, cybercriminals are increasingly exploiting AI models like DeepSeek which are then used to scale their nefarious operations like impersonation, financial theft and bypassing bank security. AI-driven phishing scams, using deepfake voices and AI-generated content are rampant. These attacks are growing in sophistication, automating infostealers, evading fraud detection, and executing mass spam campaigns with alarming efficiency.

Thai Government's Cloud-First Push and the Need for Cyber Resilience

Recognising the risks posed by increasing cyber threats, the Thai government has been actively promoting cloud-first policies to enhance digital defences. As a leading example, all Thai government agencies are set to transition their systems to migrate fully to cloud platforms by this year. This reflects the government's commitment to strengthen its security posture, and foster a more agile public sector capable of responding to the rapidly changing digital environment.

In line with this move, the cloud security market in Thailand is anticipating an annual growth rate of 25%, and projected to reach US$17.37 million by 2029. However, as organisations accelerate cloud adoption, it is crucial that security strategies evolve to address emerging threats, ensuring both compliance and resilience.

Mr.Chanvith Iddhivadhana, Country Manager, Thailand, Check Point Software Technologies shares "The government's Cloud First policy is a significant step towards digital modernisation, but organisations must recognise that cloud adoption is not inherently secure — it requires an AI-powered strategic approach." Mr.Chanvith continues "With the rise of AI-powered cyber threats, organisations must leverage advanced threat intelligence and automated security monitoring to stay ahead of evolving attack techniques. The future of cyber security in Thailand will depend on how well businesses integrate these measures into their cloud strategy. It is key to ensure that security is built into every layer of their digital transformation journey."

Strengthen Defences with Check Point Software

Businesses can no longer afford a reactive approach to security. For Thai business, the stakes are high — financial losses, reputational damage and regulatory penalties can be one wrong step away. As AI-powered threats escalate, organisations must fortify their defences to keep safe. Proactive investment in cloud security, employee awareness, and advanced threat intelligence will be key to staying ahead of cybercriminals.

Recently, Check Point Software was recognised for the industry's highest threat prevention rate in Miercom's 2025 Enterprise and Hybrid Mesh Firewall Security Report for the third consecutive year. Check Point's Infinity Platform has achieved an outstanding 99.9% block rate on Zero+1 day malware, a 99.7% phishing prevention rate, the highest security efficacy for Security Services Edge use cases, and an impressive 98% block rate on high and critical network intrusion exploits.

In addition, Check Point also launched six new and improved AI-powered innovations, announced at CPX Vienna earlier this month. The new additions are set to accelerate zero trust, strengthen threat prevention, reduce complexity, and simplify security operations.

The new Infinity Platform capabilities include:

  • Quantum Policy Insights: refines security policies by recommending improvements and enforcing zero trust
  • Quantum Policy Auditor: ensures compliance by analysing thousands of security rules in seconds
  • Infinity Identity: centralises identity management across platforms, now integrated with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Intune, and Harmony Endpoint for expanded coverage
  • Infinity Playblocks: automates security responses with 100+ out of the box playbooks including threat prevention, auto remediation, reporting and more
  • Infinity AIOps: leverages AI to monitor gateways, predict failures, and optimise infrastructure health
  • Infinity AI Copilot: acts as a chat-based GenAI-powered assistant, providing real-time, contextual security insights

"By embracing an AI-powered security-first mindset, Thai organisations can protect themselves and strengthen the nation's overall cyber resilience in an increasingly digital world." added Mr.Chanvith

Mr.Chanvith also mentioned about CPX APAC 2025 which is held in Bangkok, Thailand during February 18-19, 2025. "CPX APAC 2025 is the premier cyber security event designed to equip professionals with the latest strategies for managing business risk and prepare organisations for the future of cyber security. Attendees will gain exclusive insights from global industry leaders, explore groundbreaking industry advances, and experience the latest showcases, from AI and cloud security to endpoint protection."
